Happy Earth Day! Its been celebrated for the past 48 years!
Worldwide, various events are held on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
In Toronto today, there will be an event at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and a pop-up adventure playground at Trinity Bellwoods Park. Outside the city there are tree planting events planned in Orangeville, as well as a “clean up the gorge” hiking event near Niagara Falls.
Earth Day Canada has a host of activities for all those interested in ecology and conservation of Canadian wilderness, lakes, forests and natural resources, which make this country such a beautiful place!
Earth Day officially started in 1970 in the US, and in 1980 in Canada. On Earth Day in 2016, the landmark Paris Climate Change Agreement was signed by about 60% of the countries on the planet.
